The honest starting point: much of Dhahran is not yours to guard

A substantial part of what people call "Dhahran" sits inside Saudi Aramco's own controlled area, with its own security apparatus, its own access regime, and no role for an external guarding contractor. Any provider implying they will place guards inside the Aramco camp is misrepresenting what they can do.

The genuine, serviceable market in Dhahran is the perimeter economy: the contractors, vendors, service companies, offices, academic facilities and commercial developments that surround and supply the core. That is a large and demanding market — and it is where we work.

What Dhahran actually needs

Contractor and vendor facilities

The companies serving the energy sector maintain offices, workshops and yards across Dhahran. Their security requirement is unusual because their client's standards become their standards. A vendor whose documentation fails an audit does not simply have a security problem — they have a contract problem.

ITCC and the corporate corridor

Dhahran Techno Valley and the surrounding business district are conventional corporate environments — office towers, controlled lobbies, visitor management, contractor and cleaner access. The threat here is not intrusion; it is a plausible stranger walking in behind someone, and the exposure is data rather than property. See access control.

Academic and research facilities

KFUPM and associated research facilities are a genuine campus security problem: open by design, dispersed, operating at all hours, with high-value laboratory equipment and student residences. Women's facilities require female officers. This is a roving patrol problem, not a gate problem.

Residential compounds

Dhahran's compounds house a professional expatriate population with a strong expectation of both privacy and controlled access — and those two pull against each other. See compound security.

Vetting standards are higher here

Proximity to critical energy infrastructure means the security clearance and vetting requirements for guards themselves are more demanding than in a typical commercial deployment — and the lead time is longer as a result. A provider who promises a guard on site in Dhahran tomorrow either has not understood the site, or is planning to send someone who will be turned away at the gate.
